This doesn't include the dozen or so personal laptops I've owned. I just went through this exercise with my friends a few months ago heh. I really missed only 486DX2 66MHz and if I didn't my life would be complete. Especially with RTX 2070 and 4K monitor =) and overpowered imho so I do not bother to overclocking it.

Core i9 9900K StOCK- this thing is HOT.

Core i5 3570K - de-lidded it the next day then used it for few years and I could still use it just fine.

More like a side grade and it killed my mobo XD

Core i7 860 - base clock lost its meaning.

I really didn't feel much difference in desktop performance after that.

Core i3 540 - This thing with SSD and Vista was fast.

Pentium Dual-Core - I got to >500MHz FSB eventually =D.

One issue though: at this point way more people had dual cores so it wasn't as fascinating =(

Pentium Dual-Core E2160 - and this one was the highest OC I ever had and one of the cheapest CPU's I had, especially new and last real improvement in performance I ever felt.

Pentium D - for a while it was one of these rare sights to have two PCs in one PC.

Athlon XP 2500+ 2.266MHz - and we went nowhere with this change XD.

Athlon XP 1700+ JIUHB 2.266MHz - now we are getting somewhere.

AMD K5 100MHz - flashed round bios to square EEPROM and had to use it for a while.

Celeron - it was super cheap used stuff bargain, mmm'kay?.

Celeron - not much to say except it was golden era of 440BX + Voodoo 2/3 era of gaming.

Pentium 166MHz - biggest jump in performance.

but I could not feel like I am runinng in Doom.

AMD - it was a beast And yes it could run Doom.

I've played with countless CPUs but these are the ones I legitimately use/used full time.
